This project has had a tremendously rewarding outcome in enabling others and helping to build a community. This richly diverse neighbourhood had few public places, and when the City chose this site to build a library building, there really was no “there” there. We did what we could through design to create a place for people to go – to be engaged, inspired and to feel comfortable doing what they do as part of their community. A reading garden in the front and a big window on the street declares that the public library is a place for everyone, and everyone is welcome.
